On Wednesday, Midnight when whole city of bhatkal was sleeping terrible accident between Bus and Tempo which happened at Anathwadi NH66 near Manki in which 7 people were killed and 25 others sustained critical injuries. Reason for the accident as bus driver was overtaking tempo, he lost his control and rammed it to termpo. Bride including 3 other women were killed all hailing from Dharwad and Sirsi. Injured people are taken to bhatkal govt. hospital after intial treatment they were shifted to Mnanipal and kundapur. The deceased has been identified as Bus driver Umesh Valmiki (35), Tempo driver Nagappa Ganigar (46), bride Divya Kurdekar (23), Subramaniya (15), Pooja Shet, Palakshi Nagraj Shet (47) and Bebi Sunil Shet (38) One of passenger said that, they were on the way to Marriage party from Dharwad and Sirsi to Dharmasthala when this accident happened. Youths belonging to Bhatkal Muslim youth federation rushed to the Bhatkal Govt hospital to help the injured people.DYSP Shiv Kumar, Bhatkal CPI Suresh Nayak, Honnavar CPI Kumaraswamy amongst many other police officials visited the hospital and accident spot to provide help to injured person. The bus driver and two tempo passengers were killed on the spot, 2 injured breathed their last at Bhatkal Govt hospital while two others died on the way to Manipal. A case has been registered in Manki police station.
