What is online game?
An online game refers to any Video game played either through Internet or any other computer Networks.
Online games have variouskinds of designs like complex graphics and virtual worlds or maybe a simple text- based environment.
Online games have attracted people of various ages,nations and having different occupations.
Onlines games can be played on different platforms such as Pc,Mobiles amd Consoles which includes Nintendo,Playstation,Xbox etc

History of Online Gaming:-
History dates back to 1970s.An early example was MUD1 created in 1978 which was confined to an internal networks.
After the invention of ARPANet,Commercial games,Role-playing games,Action games,Simulation games started their debut.
The rapid availability of the Internet in 1990s led an expansion of Online games Worldwide.
After the connection speed were improved Social games were popularized along with new platforms such as mobile games.
In 2000s,Online gaming grew largely in Massively multiplayer online(MMO) games with World Of Warcraft (WoW) dominatingthe decade.
In the late 2010s,The battleroyale game format became widely popular such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds(2017),Fortnite Battle royale(2017) and Apex legends(2019).

Online Gaming Genre:-
01.First-PErson Shooter(FPS):First-person Shooter is a video game genre centered on gun and other weapons based combat in a first-person shooter perspective i.e, the player experiences the action through the eyes of protagonist.
Since the genre’s inception,advanced 3D and pseudo-3D graphics have challenged hardware developement and multiplayer gaming has been integral.
FPS often focus on action gameplay,though some place greatee emphasis on narrative,problem-solving and logic puzzles.In addition to shooting,melee combat may also be used extensively.
FPS typically give players a choice of weapons,which have a large impact on how the player will approach the game.
FPS games may feature a multiplayer mode,Massively multiplayer online FPS allow thousands of players to compete at once in a persistant world.The claasic types are the Deathmatch,in which players score points by killing other players and Capture the flag,in which teams attempt to penetrate the opposing base,capture their flag and return it to their own base whilst preventing the opposing team to do the same.
Other game mode involve capturing enemy bases or areas,attemptimg to take hold of object for as long as possible for points or other variations of deathmatch.

02.Third-person shooter:-It is subgenre of 3D shooter games in which the player character is visible on screen during gaming and the gameplay consists primarily of shooting.A third-person Shooter is a game structured around shootimg and in which the player can see the avatar on-screen in a third person view.The third person shooter genre is till quite popular in contemporary gaming circles.
These games are closely realted to first person shooters,which also tie perspective allows players to aim and shoot without their avatar blocking their view,the third-oerson shooter shows the protoganist from an ‘Over the shoulder shot’ or ‘behind the back’ perspective.Thus, the third-person perspecttive allows the game design to create a more strongly characterized avatar and directs the player’s attention as in watching the film.In contrast,a first-person shooter perspective provides the player with greater immersion into the game universe.Third-person shooters allow players to see the rea more clearly.This viewpoint facilitates more interaction between character and their surrounding environment.It is better for interacting with objects in the game world,such as jumping on platforms,engaging in close combat or driving a vehicle.However,Third -person perspective can interfere with task that require fine aiming.Third-person shooters sometimes compensate for their distinct perspective by designing larger,more spacious environments than first-person shhotersThe boundaries between Third-person shooter and First-person shooter is not distinct,for example,many third-person shooters allow the player to use a first-person viewpoint for challenges that require precise aiming.

03.Adventure game:-It is a type of genre in which the player assumes the role of a protagonist in an interactive story driven by exploration and puzzle-solving.The genre focus on story allows it to draw heavily from other narrative-based media,literature and film,encompassing a wide variety of literary genres.Adventure games contain a variety of puzzles,decoding messages,finding and using items,opening locked doors,or finding and exploring new locations.Many adventure game make use of an inventory management screen as a distinct gameplay mode.These kinda games have strong storylines with significant dialog and sometimes make effective use of recorded dialog or narration from voice actors.The primary goal in adventure games is the completion of the assigned quest.

04.Real-Time strategy:-In this type of games,the participants position structures and maneuver units under their control to secure areas of the map or destroy their opponents assets.In a typical RTS game,it is possible to create additional units and structures during the course of a game.This is generally limited by a requirement to expend accumulated resources.These resources are in turn gathered by controlling special points on the map or possessing certain type of units or structures devoted to this purpose.

05.Role-playing games:- In Rpgs a person plays the role of protagonist in a fictional setting.A player in a RPG makes choices that affect the story.Participantsin a RPG will generate specific characters and an ongoing plot.In addition to player character,non-player character(NPC) fill out the population of the fictional setting and can act as antagonists,bystanders or allies of the player.

06.MMORPG:-Massively multiplayer online role-playing games are a combination role playing video games and massively multiplayer online games.In this,very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual world.Some features include persistent game environment,some type of level progression,social interaction within the game,in-game culture,system architecture,guilds/clans, and character customization.It includes fighting with monsters for experience points,loots and special item drops.It is also consists of completing quests for non-player characters either alone or in groups.

07.Sports games:-It is a video game genre that stimulate the practise of sports.Most sports have been recreated as video games.It involves physical and tactical challenges,test the player’s precision and accracy.Most sport games attempt to model the athletic characteristics required by that sports including speed,stamina,strength,accelaration,accuracy and so on.As with their respective sports,these games take place in a stadium or arena with clear boundaries.sports games often provide play-by-play and color commentary through the use of recorded audio.
