
Anil Kumble has the nickname of Jumbo. Do you know why he was called Jumbo? He is called as Jumbo because of his spins, his deliveries and also he was as fast as Jumbo jet And also because his feet are quite big, so his teammates used to call him as Jumbo.
Anil Kumble was born on 17th October 1970 in Bangalore. Anil began playing test matches in 1990. In a match against England, he took 3 wickets in 43 overs with 7 maiden overs. He has taken 619 test wickets, the third largest in test history. In 1999, Kumble set a new record by taking all ten wickets in a single innings. He is the first Indian cricketer to achieve this and second person in the world. Anil served as captain of the Indian test team before he retired.
He has been awarded Arjuna award and Padmashree award by the central government. State government also honoured by naming a junction about in bangalore as a “Anil Kumble circle “.

Anil Kumble in that match took 9 wickets and the next over was for Javgal Srinath and the batsman in crease was a bowler and Srinath had the opportunity to take his wicket easily but for Anil Kumble’s record he bowled all his deliveries outside the stump. By this sacrifice Anil was able to get his wicket.
